When Trek bikes were first ridden in the Tour de France, (1996), they were the only carbon frame bikes in the peloton.  Turns out Trek had the crystal ball:  now all the pros race on carbon.  The 6 Series Treks are the last frames built in the U.S. by a major American manufacturer -- everyone else has gone overseas, except for boutique builders like Serotta and Parlee.

Fit:  Which Trek Geometry Works for You?

Trek road bikes have five different types of fit to accommodate riders of all body flexibilities:

H1 -- for high flexibility riders (select models)
H2 -- for medium flexibility riders (all models)
H3  -- for low flexibility riders (select models)
Gary Fisher -- falls in between H2 and H3
WSD -- women's specific design (select models) -- WSD is very close to either an H2 or an H3 fit, depending on the model, but with handlebars to accommodate a woman's narrower shoulders and smaller hands

Trek Carbon

6 Series Madone -- the last Pro Tour frame still made in the U.S.

6 Series Madone SSL -- Trek's lightest and stiffest racing frame ever.  The SSL uses 700 Series OCLV HexMC carbon, an advanced carbon fiber that lends itself to complex structural shapes.  This U.S.-made, aerospace grade carbon is export-restricted (NATO countries only), and is available to Trek because Trek makes its 6 series frames in the U.S. -- H1, H2, and WSD fit

6 Series Madone -- Using Trek's 600 Series OCLV tubing, a potent mix of high modulus filaments for stiffness and lightness, mixed with some medium modulus fiber for durability -- H1, H2, and H3 fit
5 Series Madone -- Made in Taiwan using Trek's 500 Series OCLV tubing, retaining most of the design features used in the 6 Series, including a tapered steerer for stiffness and stability, and internally routed cables -- H1, H2, and H3 (5.2 only) fit
4 Series Madone -- Made in Taiwan using Trek's 400 Series OCLV tubing, with advanced features such as BB90 and oversize tapered steerer.  Trek's most advanced entry-level carbon -- H2 fit
3 Series Madone -- Made in China using Trek's 300 Series OCLV tubing, now featuring the oversized BB86 bottom bracket For the budget-conscious rider who still wants to experience the great ride of the Madone -- H2 fit

Trek Aluminum

Trek's 200 Series Alpha Aluminum is hydroformed to optimize tube shape.  Think of an aluminum Madone, and you have a good idea of what to expect from a 2 Series road bike.  Trek's 100 Series Alpha Aluminum s for the budget conscious rider who's looking for their first road bike.  Treks in this category have dominated the "best entry level road bike" category in BICYCLING magazine's Buyer's Guide issue for the past decade, winning this award more often than any other brand.

2 and 1 Series Aluminum -- H2 and H3 (2.1 Triple only) fit
Lexa -- WSD fit
