Q: Where can I
find a road bike
built around a frame that's been used by a top pro team, for not much more than a
grand?
A: Cannondale CAAD9
6, $1,050
 The
CAAD9 is Cannondale's newest aluminum racing frame. It has larger diameter
top, head, and down tubes than previous Cannondale designs. This increases the torsional
stiffness (and stability) of the front end of the frame. Vertical compliance (comfort) is
maintained by Cannondale's famous hour-glass seat stays. The CAAD9 is a
racing thoroughbred for those of us who want champagne performance on a beer
budget. When assembling the $1,050 CAAD9 6, Cannondale
uses Shimano's upgraded Tiagra 9spd group to bring this level of performance
within the reach of the entry-level rider. Most of our local CAAD9
customers aren't racers, but they enjoy a challenging ride, like Brandon Gap,
Middlebury Gap, or Appalachian Gap, all less than 75 minutes by bike from our
shop. If you want to get the most out of your first "double gap"
ride, try it on a CAAD9. | |
