Keith Bontrager started designing lightweight MTB rims in 1980, and now you'll find Bontrager rims on most all Trek mountain bikes. Bontrager wheels are strong, light, stable, and easy to maintain.  Bontrager uses traditional spoke patterns for  mountain wheels, to enhance durability and ease of service.  All Trek mountain bikes from the 8000 up are equipped with Bontrager's performance wheel sets.

Bontrager's Race series of ATB wheels enhance your performance when you and give you steady ride when you descend.  The Race X Lite Disc is regular in the annual Velonews Buyer's Guide, and it weighs less than some of the better road wheels.   The Bontrager Race Lite and Bontrager Race X Lite wheels both use hubs made to Bontrager specs by DT Swiss:
