What Does OCLV stand for?

	Low Void = the least possible occurrence of pockets that are void of material -- "air pockets", so to speak -- where fatigue failures begin in a carbon frame. OCLV is 1 percent void or less. The standard for aircraft quality composite is 4 percent void or less.

Quality controlled: Trek OCLV frames bond individual frame tubes to carbon lugs. This allows for thorough inspection of both the outside and the inside of each tube. It's tough to inspect the internal layups in a frame that was molded in one piece. Trek currently uses three types of OCLV to build frames: OCLV Red, OCLV Black, and OCLV White.
